Photography Conference at NID

Photography Design, National Institute of Design (NID) announces the first 2-day international conference on Indian Photography on 1st& 2nd February 2012. The conference, which is held in collaboration with UCA(University for the Creative Arts), ICP(International Centre of Photography) and NYU (New York University) will encompass exhibitions, workshops, panel discussions and paper presentations.
This Confluence would majorly discuss the practice of Photography as a Medium of Expression, with Indian Perspective, in its greater search. The development of photography in the subcontinent and the factors of influence can perhaps best be understood if broken down, conversed and at times confronted. The Conference would involve Intellectual discussions; discourse at length with contemporary Photography Practitioners, Writers, Critics, Art Historians, Curators, etc. Eminent personalities will be invited form the industry to present papers and to conduct seminars and workshops, in addition to a student’s section of Paper presentations. An Exhibition on History of Indian Photography will also be a part of this conference.

Guidelines for Research Paper Submission
Selection of papers for presentation and discussion will be based on a detailed abstract of about 300 words the last date of receiving which is 30th November 2011. The abstract must include name of the author, title of the paper, area of research, methodology, major results, key references and contact details of the author. Your proposal may come in the form of either a pdf, or a word document. An individual shall submit up to three abstracts. Once the abstract is approved, the author may submit the detailed research paper the last date for which is 31 December 2011.
Students are welcome to submit proposals but students will need to submit a copy of their current student I.D. or a letter from their institution stating that they are currently enrolled in order to be eligible to be on the student panel.
